Frequently Asked Questions

What is Club Level Football and How is Different from Other Programs?

PowerHouse is a Club Level football team.  Similar to travel baseball teams and AAU basketball, club level programs seek to play better competition in more competitive leagues and tournaments.   The rules don't include "must play" requirements, two way player restrictions, or significant weight restrictions.  There are no "older lighter" players, as each player competes in his own age group.  If you want your player in a great place to learn fundamental football, have fun and play great competition then PowerHouse is a good fit.

What about PowerHouse Makes it a Good Club Program

PowerHouse Football offers many benefits that are not available in Recreation or Pop Warner like leagues.  Our philosophy and culture provide a consistent positive environment with a heavy emphasis on the development of values.  We provide a consistency in coaching and get to select the coaches based on their ability.

We operate as one single program that runs the same offensive and defensive systems on every team allowing players to build on their knowledge and skills each season.

Many parents bring their players to PowerHouse because they want their players to be developed.  The consistency and focus on values has been a winning combination.

Families who want their players to learn to play at a higher level against the best competition will typically choose a club level program.

We Want to Play on PowerHouse but it says "Limited Registration"- Can We Play?

Yes- it's possible.  Typically most of our players return so we often have limited spots available.  We only have one team per age group.   If you have a player who you believe needs to be on the PowerHouse team please contact the coach listed above and discuss playing for him.  They can help you make a decision based on the current roster and your players goals.  You can also attend one of our training session to meet the coaches and players.  Please check out our off season training schedule to see training dates.

My son played for another team last year- Can We Play At PowerHouse Now?

PowerHouse has an automatic approval policy.  If any player wants to leave and play for another team we will release you with the following exceptions:

  1. Expansion Teams (New Teams) within MMFL and Big South are forbidden from having existing players from our program.
  2. PowerHouse Coaches - Sign an agreement that they will not leave and recruit players away from PowerHouse.

PowerHouse believes children should be able to play wherever they want to.   Please note these guidelines to follow.

Southland Football Players - There are no restrictions

Big South Players - Some restrictions may apply, call Coach Jeff for more info.  704-928-7545

MYA, Pop Warner and Other Recreation Teams - No Restrictions

We Have Missed Some of the Off Season Training Programs- Should We Still Register?

Yes Absolutely- Get your player involved with us in the off season.  We have great trainers working with our players 3 days per week.  It's one of the bonuses of being in our program. Contact Jeff Phillips 704-928-7545 for more info about off season training.

How Often and When Do You Practice?

  • Please wait for information from your head coach for exact start day & times.  Some teams may be doing conditioning, team building or position specific practices in June & July.
  • The Last Week in July We Have Season Conditioning.
  • The First Week of August - 4 Days, Monday - Thursday 6:00pm-8:00pm
  • Second Week of August - 4 Days, Monday - Thursday 6:00pm-8:00pm

Where and When Do You Play?

We play on Saturdays during the fall at varying times throughout the season.  Our home field is the Mooresville High School's Joe Popp Football Stadium. This is a fantastic facility with a top of the line turf field.

We play on High School fields and our away games can be in Rowan County, Statesville, Newton Conover, Lincolnton, Dallas, Gastonia, etc.  It is a good balance of exciting travel and home games. Games are an exciting atmosphere with music, announcers, high school referees, and quality youth football.

Where Do You Practice?

PowerHouse practices at the Bridge Church Athletic Field in Mooresville.  It is between exit 33 and 35 in Mooresville.  It is easily reachable from Lake Norman, Mooresville, Statesville, and even North Charlotte.

What League Does PowerHouse Play In?

PowerHouse plays in a new AAU League.  One of the toughest conferences in the State of North Carolina.  We have previously played in Big South & Southland Football Conference other tough conferences.  We won 90% of our games in the Big South & Southland Conference  as well.

We are on Vacation in August.  Is that going to affect my child's season?

We certainly prefer for football families to have their vacations completed prior to August but family is first.  No player is ever punished for going on a family vacation.  If the player is new to our program the time away may put him behind but his coaches will work with him individually to get him up to speed.

My Son will Play 7th Grade Middle School Football, Can He Play PowerHouse as Well?

Yes.  We welcome middle school football players and understand their need to attend middle school football practice.  We work hard to keep practices lighter and scheduled around middle school football.  There is no reason you can't play both.

In fact, we believe you should absolutely play both if you want to become a better football player.  Most middle school seasons are 6-7  games.  PowerHouse players will play 9 games in the regular season, another 2-4 in the playoffs, and play tournament football.  It can be 16 or more games before All Star season starts.

Playing for PowerHouse can greatly impact your player development beyond middle school participation because of the longer season, additional practices, great coaching and tournament play.

We absolutely believe that you become a better player through “more reps”.  Playing PowerHouse Football in addition to middle school can be a great way to get more reps, become a better player, and extend your season.

A review of our most recent alumni would include MVP's and award winning players at the areas top middle schools including Mooresville Middle, Brawley Middle, Bailey, Davidson Day, Davidson Community, Lakeshore Middle, and Charter schools.  If your wondering if playing for PowerHouse is a good idea as a 7th grader ask to talk to one of our recent award winning alumni.
